Greene County is the east side of the Dayton area. Beavercreek's subdivisions, Fairborn beside Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and Wright State University, Xenia as the county seat, and farmland from there out past Cedarville and Jamestown. More of its driveways are long, open and in full sun than in Dayton, and the three biggest cities each handle street work their own way. A drive in Spring Valley is on the schedule for 29 September.
Beavercreek and Beavercreek Township, Fairborn, Xenia and Xenia Township, Bellbrook, Sugarcreek Township, Yellow Springs, Cedarville, Wilberforce, Jamestown, Spring Valley, Bowersville and Clifton. The Little Miami River runs down the county from north to south: through the gorge at Clifton and John Bryan State Park, past Yellow Springs, and on through Spring Valley, with the Little Miami Scenic Trail following the old rail bed beside it through Xenia. In the north west corner the Mad River passes Fairborn and Huffman Dam on its way to Dayton. East of Xenia the ground flattens out into farmland.
Those two landscapes wear asphalt in opposite ways.
Wooded and near the river. Around Yellow Springs, Bellbrook and Sugarcreek Township, plenty of drives sit under trees. Shade keeps the surface damp for hours after rain, and damp shaded edges grow moss and algae that have to be scrubbed off before sealer will bond to them. Leaves and sap stain the surface, and a shaded drive cures more slowly, so it is the one to do early on a warm day rather than last thing.
Open country. A farm lane or a long drive east of Xenia gets sun and wind from dawn to dusk. Ultraviolet light is what dries asphalt out and turns it grey, so an open rural drive usually needs sealing sooner than the same asphalt in a shaded street. Its edges tend to run straight into gravel or grass, and an edge with nothing beside it breaks off in chunks under a tyre unless it is kept filled and sealed.
Beavercreek is the largest city in the county, strung along I-675 and US-35, and much of it is subdivision after subdivision. On a street like that, the question is often the first coat rather than the fifth.
New asphalt should not be sealed straight away. The oils in the mix need time to work out and the surface needs time to harden, commonly six to twelve months. A drive laid this summer should wait until next season. A drive laid a few summers ago that has never been touched is about due, and it will need far less crack work than one left for a decade.

Making one bigger in Xenia is, which matters when a sealing job turns into adding a parking pad. Apron work in Beavercreek is only taken on with a paving contractor already registered and bonded there.
